Haiti Needs Our Prayers, but They Also Need Our Help

As many of us know, on August 14th, a devistating 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake hit Haiti, killing thousands and causing nationwide destruction. Since then, there's been an outpouring of support for the nation of Haiti from millions around the world, many in the African Diaspora sending messages of support and prayers.

As someone constantly traveling around the globe I've seen that pockets of my friend pool are aware of the situation happening but are highly unaware of actions you can take to help the people of Haiti directly.

Here's a list of Foundations supporting Haiti that you can donate to online :

1. Ayiti Community Trust

Ayiti Community Trust is a highly plausible organization dedicated to the empowerment of Haiti and the Haitian people.
Guerda Nicolas, one of the founders of this organization is currently a professor at the University of Miami and a pillar of the community.

Pierre Jonas Imbert, another of the co-founders is known as one of the Senior Advisors of the Barr Foundation and is also dedicated to Haiti's economic development.

2. Hope for Haiti

Hope For Haiti is an organization that focuses mainly on the trajectory of the Haitian Youth, focusing on Education, Healthcare, Economy, Infrastruction and Water. JoAnne M. Kuehner, the founder of HFH, is an humanitarian, philanthropist and author who has been behind the organization for the past 30 years. You can find out more about HFH here.

3. Mandodo

Mandodo is highly invested in the well-being of the people of Haiti and has been involved in relief efforts in the region for quite some time. Some of the press surrounding this organizations efforts date back to 2012.

The President of this organization, Precile Lozama, is a part of HANA, or the Haitian American Nurses Association of Florida.

4. Fokal

Fokal is an organization created in 1995 to help the people of Haiti in Education, Arts and Culture, Youth Initiatives and more. The President of the organization is Michèle Duvivier Pierre-Louis who is well know for being the previous Prime Minister of Haiti from 2008 to 2009.
